Reception for the African Diplomatic Corps
On April 23, 2024, SAFRI and the German Africa Foundation invited the African Diplomatic Corps to a reception in Berlin. Around 200 guests from German business and politics were welcomed by the hosts at the House of German Business.
The evening was filled with entertaining speeches and panel discussions. The focus was primarily on the topics of skilled worker training and migration. In particular, the need to train skilled workers locally in African countries was emphasized. At the same time, the needs of German companies with regard to the immigration of educated young people from Africa were also discussed.
A key insight of the evening was that the topics mentioned are virtually inseparable. In this context, for example, circular migration was discussed, whereby young, ambitious people are trained and educated at companies in Germany and then return to Africa.
